manpris are awesome

July 20, 2008 · 1 Comment

sorry, i don’t really want to see anyone.

next time i feel inadequate about my connections, i’ll remember that my dad spelled my name out of rocks today while he was cleaning the backyard for the family party. kinda of a thing your boyfriend or someone who digs you is supposed to do, but my dad did it instead. so cool.

check this out, it’s a manpri:

d00dz sucks

i’m having these annoying recurring dreams that force my mornings to be contemplative which is such inappropriate timing. i don’t know whether to feel cross towards someone or just hold the desolate, agonizing feelings to myself. sometimes my dreams have determined my relationship statuses with people, but not in a significant way. there’s a large degree of fluidity when it comes to the people in my life. i’ll wave it off for now but i know my unconscious will unwelcome it.

hup holland!

June 17, 2008 · Leave a Comment

i don’t want to prematurely call anything out– but if the dutch keep playing the way they have been- marked by impeccable victories over france and italy, they are within sight of this year’s eurocup. i think some of the players are going to sit out tomorrow but a dutch loss means france and italy are out while maintaining a quarter finals slot. will they lose purposely? i hope they don’t.

in other news, i’m stoked season 4 of weeds premiered tonight and i hope the lakers win tomorrow. woo!

one last final

June 12, 2008 · Leave a Comment

first, congrats to chef stephanie! she is the first female top chef and was very deserving of this title. it is also the first season of top chef that an alumnus of the culinary institute of america DID NOT win. the reunion next week should be interesting.

so before i embark on my last official final (however, by no means does my work end here) i’m going to write about some of my goals for the next two years:

annual food & wine festival in aspen, co with my favorite dumb-B, jessica

south africa 2010

start cooking exotic cuisine

eat at all the fine dining restaurants that my favorite chefs either work at or own

finish grad school

find an awesome job (i will glad take padma’s job and wardrobe if she decides to step down)

cmu

June 10, 2008 · 1 Comment

as the moving date approaches, i’m becoming more anxious about my transition to pittsburgh. today i spoke with a professor who completed his masters AND phD at the heinz school. it was relieving to finally speak with someone, no less a professor at uci, about cmu and pittsburgh life in general. although i’m sort of afraid of what i’m getting myself into, i feel more assured that i’ll be doing great things once i finish. it is really worth it for me to hear that i’m going to hate my first year and probably want to quit, but the payoff in the end will provide financial stability and the marketability to enter a job i would actually like. of course this is probably something i should have figured out on my own, but repetition in this case is most likely necessary. indeed, it is just another testament to why i didn’t choose to go to law school. i’m ready to be quantitatively-oriented!

dale out, lisa’s still there?!

May 23, 2008 · Leave a Comment

what charity event did tom have to attend? arguably, i think if he was present at restaurant wars, dale would still be in and lisa would have gone packing. at this point i’m pulling for a richard/antonia win– spike can be in the top three as eye candy. he did look quite dashing in his suit. for graduation, i’m asking the rents to buy me the top chef cookbook.

p.s. did lisa really take over for spike at mai house?

more bandwagon jumpers & gay marriage

May 15, 2008 · Leave a Comment

california overturned the discriminatory ban on gay-marriage today, because well the supreme court found it for what it is- discriminatory. after three hours of deliberation, the court eradicated the ban and now dinosaurs will be really extinct since gay marriage killed them in the first place. look for a supreme court ruling in the near future (if writ is approved).

here is something else that’s gay: john edwards being a bandwagon jumper (can we say future attorney general?) we’ll see if poverty ends– if not, at least his $400 haircut can withstand hunger. everything he has discussed had alluded to a clinton endorsement (i.e. universal MOTHERFUCKING healthcare). can i please see the student health center without paying a $200 deductible? i also need my annual pappy. fuck!

forget the migraines

May 14, 2008 · Leave a Comment

along with EMILY’S List, I am shocked over NARAL’s endorsement of Barack Obama. I am proud to say that I haven’t jumped the bandwagon just yet… but as I’ve said before I’m going to repeat my allegiance to the democratic party no matter who the nominee ends up being. That being said, I realize Obama’s pro-choice voting record is as impeccable as Hillary’s, but in the end, she has done MORE for women’s rights than Obama. Not only has she helped bring PLAN B to an over-the-counter status, she has outlined policy protecting women’s rights on her website and has articulated the importance of upholding roe v. wade on several occasions. I was discouraged to discover than Obama’s website does not include a section on women’s rights under the issues tab. For those who don’t mind a woman holding the position of President of the United States but claim Hillary’s just not the “right” woman, who/what makes up the “right” woman? I still feel like women have this absurd standard to meet comparatively to men, and this is a point that saddens me.

“Reclaiming the American Dream” with Barack Obama… I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
